Professional Background

Lynne Robinson is a Consultant Gynaecologist with her NHS practice based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital (BWH). She practices privately at The Priory Hospital Edgbaston.
 

Lynne graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1996 and completed an MD in basic sciences related to Reproductive Medicine in Edinburgh in 2003. She gained her MRCOG in 2005 and completed her core specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Edinburgh before moving to Birmingham in 2007 to complete her training. She completed sub speciality training in Reproductive Medicine in Birmingham in 2012, started her consultant role in 2013 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2019. Lynne is Clinical lead of the Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre (BWFC) and the Menopause and Reproductive Endocrine services at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. BWFC has the second largest Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis Clinic in the UK and is one of the largest fertility centres in the West Midlands.

Lynne is a fertility specialist, experienced in all aspects of fertility care. This includes assessment of subfertility problems, assisted conception such as IVF/ICSI, ovulation induction, donor gamete treatment and male fertility treatment such as surgical sperm retrieval.

Lynne leads the Menopause service at BWH which is the largest NHS clinic in the West Midlands and deals with complex referrals alongside offering an implant service. As a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the British Menopause Society (BMS), she has detailed knowledge of managing difficult medical conditions in relation to menopause.

Lynne also leads the Reproductive Endocrine service at BWH and is experienced in all areas of Reproductive Medicine, leading to fertility issues and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Lynne, an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham, has published widely and continues her academic work alongside her teaching and service development commitments. She was elected to the Medical Advisory Council of the British Menopause Society, has an Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care, and is a certified BMS Menopause trainer. She also teaches regularly on BMS practical skills courses for the Menopause Certificate. Lynne is a member of the British Fertility Society and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).  Her other roles include chair of the West Midlands Menopause Society, member of the ESHRE fellowship exam committee (EFRM) and a board member of the Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (CEDAM) which is an innovation to create a network for research and training in endocrinology in Birmingham.

Lynne is married with 3 children and in her spare times enjoys a bit of cycling and reading the occasional book to keep up with her book club.

Research & Publications

After completing his Senior House Officer training Mr Simon Radley undertook a period of research into colorectal cancer and submitted a thesis for which he was awarded an MD by the University of Birmingham.

He has published widely on colorectal disease and in particular functional bowel disorders. He has written several book chapters.
